A series of demonstration projects was undertaken to complement the planning, market analysis and business case studies.

A short list of 10 feasible demonstrations was selected which had the potential to take advantage in the short-term of the added value of EGNOS to the end-user community. In the longer term they will prepare and capture the market for Galileo services and their combined (EGNOS and Galileo) use. In all cases, key players including end users agreed to participate in the demonstration programmes with enthusiasm.

In addition to geographical regions within the current EGNOS service area, demonstrations were included from the extension of EGNOS in the broadcast area and as a second priority, areas outside the latter where the EGNOS system/technology can be copied.

Four demonstration projects were undertaken, in locations in Europe and Africa, and included applications in the aviation, maritime and rail application domains.

Each of the demonstrations is summarised  in a report containing recommendations for further activities to reinforce the conclusions of the demonstrations. The reports also facilitate the development of the business cases.
